DAMARIS LYSAGHT ~ Animal Spirit Tree - Oil on Canvas on Board - 40 x 30 cm - €725

Damaris Lysaght grew up near Doneraile, Co Cork. She studied Fine Art for two years at the Crawford Municipal School of Art in Cork and for an additional two years at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. This was followed by an Italian government scholarship which enabled her to continue her studies in Florence with the renowned teacher of classical painting, Nerina Simi. Since those four years at the Simi Studio she has been painting full time, moving back to Ireland in 1989.

In 2009 she moved to Ballydehob, West Cork where the richness of colours, textures and light effects of the coastal environment inspire her work. Her ecological concerns are expressed in detailed observations of the wild flora, fauna and land/seascape. She works en plein air mostly in oils. She has had several solo exhibitions most frequently with the Tom Caldwell Galleries in Dublin and Belfast. She has participated in numerous group shows in Ireland and abroad and has works in private and corporate collections

Damaris's work can be seen in the Lavit Gallery,Cork, the Leinster Gallery, Dublin and
the Joan Clancy Gallery, An Rinn
